This Privacy Policy describes how Lake Arthur Self Storage(“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information from customers who rent storage units, request quotes, or use our website at lakearthurselfstorageselfstorage.com.

1. Information we collect

When you rent a unit or create an account, we collect:

  • Contact information — name, email address, phone number, mailing address.
  • Identification — driver's license number (required by the Pennsylvania Self-Storage Facility Act).
  • Lease information — unit assigned, start date, monthly rate, deposit, payment history.
  • Payment information — for card or ACH auto-pay, your payment method is collected and stored by Stripe; we never see or store your card number or bank account number ourselves. We do retain a reference token issued by Stripe.
  • Account credentials — your email and a password (hashed) if you set one. We use Supabase to manage authentication.
  • Communication preferences — whether you've opted in to SMS notifications and marketing emails.
  • Server logs — IP address, browser type, and pages visited for security and analytics. We use Vercel for hosting.

2. How we use your information

  • Provide and administer your storage rental.
  • Process payments and send invoices/receipts.
  • Send transactional communications (welcome emails, password resets, payment receipts, rent reminders).
  • Communicate about your account (e.g., upcoming auto-pay, payment failures, facility notices) by SMS if you've opted in, or by email.
  • Comply with Pennsylvania state law on self-storage operators, including lien procedures and tax reporting.
  • Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, or unauthorized access.

3. SMS / text messaging

If you opt in to SMS notifications (by checking the consent box on your rental agreement or on the online rental form at our website), you may receive text messages from us regarding your account — rent reminders, payment confirmations, payment failures, facility announcements, and welcome messages.

  • Message and data rates may apply.
  • Message frequency varies; typically 1-4 messages per month per active lease.
  • You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message.
  • Reply HELP for assistance, or call us at (724) 290-4437.
  • Opt-out applies to your phone number; opting out of SMS does not affect email or your underlying lease.
  • We do not share SMS opt-in or phone number data with third parties for marketing.

4. Third-party service providers

We use the following service providers to operate our business. We share only the data needed for them to perform their function on our behalf:

5. Data retention

We retain your lease, payment history, and identification records for as long as your lease is active, plus the period required by Pennsylvania law and applicable tax-recordkeeping rules (typically 7 years after lease termination). After that period, we delete or anonymize the data. Account-only data (no active lease) is retained for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services.

6. Your rights

You can:

  • View and update your contact information from your account page at lakearthurselfstorage.com/account/profile.
  • Opt out of SMS notifications by replying STOP or toggling SMS off in your profile.
  • Opt out of marketing/welcome emails using the unsubscribe link in any such email.
  • Request a copy of your data, or request that we delete it (subject to legal retention requirements), by emailing support@lakearthurselfstorage.com or calling (724) 290-4437.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and audit logs. Passwords are stored hashed. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe, which is PCI Service Provider Level 1 certified. While no system is completely secure, we work to protect your information against unauthorized access.

8. Children

Our services are not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated via email to active tenants.
